Solid Waste Management

A lot of waste is generated from various daily activities of humans, it is called solid waste. If we dispose of the waste properly, this waste material can become a valuable source of energy. Solid waste is a serious problem in human society in terms of economic development, environmental degradation and health issues. Household and public level garbage bins, compost pits, three wheelers/battery operated three wheelers for carrying waste, village level storage units for plastic waste management, menstrual management units are done under solid waste management. In villages with a population of up to 5000, Rs. 60 per person for solid waste management and in villages with a population of more than 5000, Rs. 45 per person for solid waste management is accepted for solid waste management in each revenue village. As per the instructions given in the government decision dated 21 November 2021, there is a provision for the Gram Panchayat to spend 30 percent of the work from the grant received from the 15th Finance Commission. While 70 percent of the amount is provided through the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SMB) Phase-2 scheme.
