The Central Government has launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Scheme on 15 August 2014. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Gramin) Scheme provides the benefit of individual toilet incentive grant to eligible households as per the basic survey of households without individual toilets at the Gram Panchayat level. Palghar district has been declared as the 12th district in the state as an open defection free district on 2. N. October 2017.
