General Administration Department

Vision and Mission

General Administration Department is an important department out of the total 17 departments of the Panchayat. The Deputy Chief Executive Officer (General) is the head of this department. As per the requirement, after scrutinizing important information/administrative proposals and cases from all the departments of the Zilla Parishad, Hon. Chief Executive Officer, Z.P. Palghar and submitting them to the higher office is done through this department.

Administrative Setup

In 1957, a committee headed by Balwantrai Mehta recommended a three-tier Panchayat Raj system. The Maharashtra government enacted the Maharashtra Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti Act, 1961 and adopted the three-tier Panchayat Raj system under the Act on 1 May 1962.
