Gram Panchayat Department is an important department out of the total 16 departments in the Panchayat Samiti. The Extension Officer (Panchayat) is the head of this department. All the Panchayat Samiti / Gram Panchayat level schemes and other ancillary works of the Zilla Parishad which require the approval of the Chief Executive Officer are carried out.

Objectives And Functions

Implementation and monitoring of schemes as per the government decisions of the Government of Maharashtra, Rural Development Department.
To take action as per Maharashtra Gram Panchayat Act – 1959.
All matters related to the establishment of employees in the cadre of Extension Officer (Panchayat), Village Development Officer and Village Servant under the Gram Panchayat Department.
